Who Is SonRise

"Chief Piglet Chaser and Cattle Wrangler" Douglas Lindamood served as a United States Marine for twenty years. Having spent his early teenage years managing a Cattle Ranch in rural Oregon, he joined the Service soon after graduating High School. He received his Bachelors of Art in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the mid-1990's.
Douglas was designated a United States Naval Aviator and selected to pilot the AH-1W "Cobra" Attack Helicopter. He served three overseas tours and later attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where he earned his Master’s of Science in Information Technology Management. His personal military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Air Medal. Some of his exploits as a combat pilot are featured in A Hammer From Above: Marine Air Combat Over Iraq, by Jay Stout, published in 2006.
SonRise Ranch was born of an experimental farm prototype used for research in sustainable Ranching while Douglas was authoring his Master's Thesis titled The Electromagnetic Pulse and the Industrial Food Supply.
He is designated a United States Naval Aviator, Commercial, Instrumented Rated Pilot, Aviation Safety Officer, Cattleman, Author, devoted Husband and Father of three. He is active in his local community and an ardent proponent of non-industrial, sustainable, local agriculture.

Douglas retired from the military to pursue his life-long dream of real food production using a multi-species, integrated Ranching model full time. By then SonRise Ranch had established itself as an innovative direct-to-consumer Ranch that combined technology, education, great products and exceptional customer service to match the complex demands of the busy health conscious, inner-city consumer.
Eve Lindamood (Co-Owner)
“Chief Kid Chaser and Husband Wrangler” Eve Lindamood provides the “horse sense” of the Production Division and the “horse cents “of the Sales division at SonRise. She is a devoted whole food (Paleo) eater, creative cook and exceptional Mother of three. Eve grew up in Oregon on a beautiful Ranch in the Applegate Valley. A regular Blog contributor and imaginative designer, she adds daily to the quality content expressed at www.son-riseranch.com.
Eve has been the author behind the customer service and sales division at SonRise since its inauguration into cyberspace. Her invaluable contribution and exceptional style has been lauded by champions of the Grass-fed and Free-range movement community – allowing SonRise to be a trend setter in connecting the often too-busy consumer with his or her Rancher in a convenient, relatable and consistent way.
Brennon Lindamood
Brennon is a dedicated Ranch hand at SonRise Ranch in Garden Valley. At 18 years old he has more responsibility than most of his peers. Brennon has learned everything from Cattle Management to Tractor Maintenance. Brennon and Jacob (our other Hand) are paving the way for the SonRise Apprenticeship and Internship programs beginning in 2016. These full-time immersion programs (in series) will take energetic, critter-grazers in training and equip them with the requisite skills needed to run a fully operational, sustainable, Free-Range and Grass-Fed operation.

The Apprenticeship program is designed as a Summer “Try out” wherein a very few select individuals will live full time at SonRise Ranch. With successful completion, an apprentice will have leaned enough in Cattle, Hog and Chicken operations to grow their own supply of sustainably raised organic food.
A select number of apprentices will be offered an internship position. These positions last one full year and include Room, Board and a Stipend. Graduates of the program will be offered either paid full-time positions at SonRise or the opportunity to begin a Satellite Ranch Operation that partners with SonRise for production.
These programs are not reform school; they are designed for the serious, dedicated vocational enthusiast with an entrepreneurial spirit. Other Ranchers in the movement report an overwhelming application rate – one stated he had over 400 applicants for 9 positions, giving him a lower acceptance rate than Harvard.
We believe our program, repeated by thousands of Small Farms and Ranches across the country is the ultimate solution to conquering the prison-like Industrial Farming complex that has emerged from the mega-powerful corporations that control food production in our Country.
Many well meaning young kids join FFA and 4H only to find that they are funded by the same corporations that own the entire production chain. They are duped by the large dollars they receive by overbidding donators from the local county fair. They find themselves, years later, wearing a respirator, working for minimum wage, in farm debt to their eyeballs, cleaning out a confinement chicken house that is ¼ mile in length – wondering what happened to the adventure of farming.
