Raw Milk, Raw Butter, Raw Cream and Raw Nerves - Part 2

3/27/2023

Our little survey results are in - evidently folks are bit passionate about this subject (see the Blog below this one "Raw Milk, Raw Butter, Raw Cream and Raw Nerves - Part 1")

By comparison, we launched into a similar subject, pre-2021 and it would have been more interesting to watch paint dry on a cold winter day.

But now... Wow, watch out!

You folks are fired up! (the comments on the survey were amazing)

I just cant think of a major world event that might have happened in the last few years that would change peoples opinions about their personal health - hmm... let me think.

Huh? Sorry, nothing comes to mind.

Anyway. I'd like to address in a webinar (my fancy word for a Zoom meeting) this week, the questions we received in the Raw Milk survey.

I don't have all the answers, because this project is still in it infancy, but thought I might address the below listed questions, yarn a few stories about Eve's health recovery and the role that Raw Milk played in her life and then open it up for questions.

If you can't join us at the appointed place and time, I will record the mayhem and post it right here.

If you want to join in, please be sure to enter your information below and we will contact you with all the details.

Thanks,

Question: Would all the milk be A2?

Question: How long would it take to transport the milk from the cow to oceanside?

Question: Dear Chicken Whisperer, if your chickens only eat what they find outside, I would be interested in eggs as well.

Question: I've never had raw milk. It scares me for no good reason. I know commercial milk isn't the best for me because it's heated but it tastes soooo good. I'm interested in this plan. I'm 68 years old and have averaged a half gallon a day for decades. But I know despite it's amazing flavor I need to start drinking healthier milk.

Comment: I drink 1-1/2 gallons of milk per week but don’t believe raw milk is better for me than homogenized/ pasteurized milk.

Question: How soon do you anticipate providing the cost of buying in?

Question: When the cow is done producing milk, will the owners have the opportunity to purchase a portion of of processed cow?

Question: I purchased raw cream (Organic Pastures company) from Sprouts store before, it had stinky smell, pretty off-putting smell, like a vomit smell, although it tasted fine, just smelled bad, and I was not able to use raw cream for my coffee even though I wanted to. Is this normal for raw cream?

Question: Can you comment at all about your antibiotic use in your cows?

Question: How long would it take to get such milk from Wyoming to California? How would that affect the "best by" for the milk?

Plus your questions

Oops - too late, you missed it, but we recorded it for you and posted it below...

I'm sorry, at this time we can not estimate the cost. We will share more information when we get closer.

So,… I grew up on raw milk. This farm was NOT as clean or as sanitary AS IT SHOULD have been. We also did raw goats milk. I had some super fun sicknesses as a kid. Fast forward to adulthood and after an extended period of time in Switzerland..,. America cannot do raw dairy. We seem to lack enough producers who have pride of producing top quality raw dairy. I ate raw dairy prod for weeks. In Switzerland. Butter, cheese and milk - there is no comparison here. They also had yogurt that would amaze you. In about our first 4 weeks of eating all this raw dairy,.. we lost weight. About 15 lbs,.. Inflammation issues vanished. Even the eggs were like little round dark orange colored orbs of sunshine. What we learned is that producers there had exceptional pride in what they produced. The nation as a whole was about excellence. It showed. Later - when we came back to The states - we were excited to try and enjoy the continued experience of raw - exceptional dairy. OMG - HAHAHAHA. America has a completely different mindset about excellence in food safety and handling. Get away with as much as you can. There are of course smaller farms that probably can do what’s needed,…. But for heavens sake,…. We cannot even keep farming practices to prevent diseased animal waste or human waste out of our foods.

I am all for the ability to have access to raw dairy products. Whole fat,.. raw milk, butter, cheese, ice cream,.. yogurt,…. But in general - it’s not set up to allow farms to produce these and make a profit. Even our political landscape on health and safety is all over the place. With many hoping to eliminate all oversite over manufacturing with a flippant buyer beware attitude. With those nuggets of knowledge,.. America is in no way able or capable of being self governing over food manufacturing and meeting or exceeding necessary basic safety and health requirements needed for handling or even manufacturing raw dairy.

My goodness - we cannot even get our egg supply in order. 🤫😱.

What I do know is that the secret to finding a good raw dairy producer,.. is you cannot tell everyone. It’s a “donation” service that relies on the generosity of its customers- and you DO not tell everyone about your find. It’s a sssshhhj thing because all it takes is one nasty person to ruin the entire thing for everyone.

I hope that someday our crazy world will settle enough to allow people if ANY color or orientation to be able to put their excellence in products to the test and to allow them to make beautiful and amazing raw dairy.

We saw in all situations in Switzerland everyone was masked up,.. covered up with full on safety and sanitary clothing. Here in the USA we could not even manage to wear a ridiculous face mask to prevent killing other people. Most of our food prep places don’t even wear a beard cover,.. a hair retaining cover or even food safety gloves.

We are not even close to being able to safely produce raw dairy. We are all too entitled to personal freedoms that endanger the lives of others to even begin to think we can count on integrity within our nation to start handing raw dairy.

Hey Doug,
We've been enjoying Delores now for a few weeks, our first while cow from you. For some reason all your messages started going to my junk mail so I didn't get the webinar link but I just watched the recording. Great info and we'd definitely be interested in a milk share or two.

I am from Lithuania and I grew up on raw milk for most of my life there. I also managed to find reputable raw milk farms in US and had all three of my children on it instead of formula. They all are very healthy and strong kids. I try to avoid processed dairy but would be very interested in anything raw.

Thank you for the recording! This video was so informative. Put us on the list for Texas, if there is one. :)

Hi Douglas!

Thanks for all the info on this possible opportunity, I really hope it comes to fruition.

I was wondering if you could put together an interest flyer or something to that effect? I would like to share this opportunity with some circles I run in of like-minded people (think like FB neighborhood page, Azure Standard drop point group, Homeschool Collective for SD County). If the flyer had the basic info and Q&A you shared here plus a contact point for them to let you know if they'd be a potential customer, that might give you a good idea of the interest outside of your direct circle of existing customers?

Just an idea I had since I would love to see this get off the ground.

I just moved to Oceanside and would be very interested in raw milk delivery options and cow sharing. I like to make my own butter/cheese and have been seaching for a quality raw milk option.
